Step aerobic classes focus on cardio conditioning with choreographed movements. Offered in three class intervals, the YMCA offers Step at ideal intensities for everyone: Basic Step, Intermediate Step, and Xtreme Step. Step & Sculpt is also offered. This 60 minute workout combines Step with strength training.

 

YMCA Step classes make cardio fitness fun by offering an aerobic workout that is boosted with choreography and group motivation. Step classes involve cardio conditioning on step benches and risers while performing choreographed routines to upbeat music.

 

Choose the Class that’s Right for You:

Basic Step: Designed for all fitness levels. This class is great for the beginning to intermediate stepper and includes basic choreography.

Intermediate Step: This class is designed for the intermediate stepper with intermediate choreography.

Xtreme Step: This class is a high intensity step workout with challenging choreography. Xtreme Step is best suited for intermediate to advanced participants.

Step & Sculpt is a 60-minute rendition of step class that will challenge you with alternating intervals of cardio conditioning and strength training. While on the step, participants will use light hand-weights and on the floor, participants will transition to heavier weights. This class will also focus on core training to amp up your abs.

 

What to Expect:

Shape and tone your muscles.
Receive a total body workout.
Increase core strength.
Feel encouraged and motivated.

 

What to Bring:

Comfortable clothing that will allow movement.
Supportive workout shoes.
Lifting gloves are recommended but not required.
