Finding childcare can be a struggle
Finding childcare can be a struggle, one that many working parents have to face every day. Looking for quality care that was both enriching and affordable for his two school age children, Jeremiah found the Y’s Adventure Day Camp.
The Y’s Adventure Day Camp is a haven for parents looking for a safe place for their children during all school breaks. Once enrolled the Curenton family realized what a great fit the Y Day Camp was. From field trips to learning how to swim, Jayda (8) and Jeremiah (10) were engaged in activities each day and loving it.
Had it not been for the Y the Curenton family would have to rely on the help of a younger sibling or cousin not giving the children the structure and foundation that the Y provides. “During school breaks and summer it was hard, I would have to ask family to care for the kids or take time off work,” shared Jeremiah. In addition to providing activities for children, the Y offers nutritious meals and snacks while at Adventure Day Camp, lifting the burden off families to provide meals during school breaks.
“It has been amazing to watch the Curenton children to grow and develop socially and behaviorally,” shares Danielle Banks, the Program Executive Director of the San Bernardino YMCA. “They both show a great level of caring towards other students and have become such encouraging and positive role models within their groups.”
“Each day they try to go above and beyond, and they come home proud,” said Jeremiah.
At the Y we focus on positive behavior and growth. “Camper of the Day” is a title given out to a day camper who displays the Y core values: honesty, respect, caring and responsibility. Jayda and Jeremiah have both been awarded “Camper of the Day” and repeatedly do their best to earn the title. “Each day they try to go above and beyond, and they come home proud,” said Jeremiah.
