YMCA Certified Swim Instructors teach children to swim while focusing on water safety, skill development, and group interaction. YMCA Swim Lessons are available for all ages and skill levels including Parent & Child, Preschool, Youth, Teen, and Adult programs.

Parent-Child Stage A (6 to 12 months)        Parent-Child Stage B (13 months to 5 years)

The skills taught in the Parent/Child program center around five main components: personal safety, personal growth, stroke development, water games, and rescue. A child must be accompanied by an adult in all parent-child classes.

Adaptive Parent-Child (5 to 18 years)

This adaptive aquatics class is a Parent-Child class for children ages 5-18, with special needs. The goal of this class is to get your child comfortable in the water, teach them how to be safe around water, and become independent swimmers.

Water acclimation increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance

Water stamina develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages

Preschool Stage 4 (Ages 3-5)

Stroke introduction of basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Youth Stage 1 (Ages 6-12)
