Parent-Child Stage A (6 – 12 months) & Parent-Child Stage B (1 – 5 years)

The skills taught in the Parent/Child program center around five main components: personal safety, personal growth, stroke development, water games, and rescue. A child must be accompanied by an adult in all parent-child classes.

Adaptive Parent-Child (Ages 5-18 Years)

This adaptive aquatics class is a Parent-Child class for children ages 5-18, with special needs. The goal of this class is to get your child comfortable in the water, teach them how to be safe around water, and become independent swimmers.

Preschool Stage 1 

Water acclimation increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance

Preschool Stage 2

Water movement encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently

Preschool Stage 3 

Water stamina develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages

Preschool Stage 4 

Stroke introduction of basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Youth Stage 1 

Water acclimation increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance

Youth Stage 2 

Water movement encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently.

Youth Stage 3 

Water stamina develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages

Youth Stage 4 

Stroke introduction of basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Youth Stage 5 

Stroke development introduces breaststroke and butterfly and reinforces water safety through treading water and sidestroke

Youth Stage 6

Stroke mechanics refines stroke technique on all major competitive strokes and encourages swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle

Teen & Adult (Ages 13+)

Designed for participants age 13 and up. Youth and adult levels are arranged according to ability, not age, providing a focus on the skills that are appropriate for their ability.
